Summary: (from goodreads) Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone the small Southern town of Gatlin has ever seen, and she's struggling to conceal her power, and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. But even within the overgrown gardens, murky swamps and crumbling graveyards of the forgotten South, a secret cannot stay hidden forever.
Ethan Wate, who has been counting the months until he can escape from Gatlin, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met. When Lena moves into the town's oldest and most infamous plantation, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her and determined to uncover the connection between them.
In a town with no surprises, one secret could change everything.
I'm Thankful to my Twitter followers that all picked Beautiful Creatures for me to read next from my pile. This book has own me for a couple of nights. The book made me want more time in my day for reading.
I love to read anything dealing with mythology, and Beautiful Creatures delivered. It gives you mystery, love, humor and heartache. The fact that it written from a Male POV is one of the highlights of the book. It gives us a break from the usual Female POV that 95% of books are written in. I enjoyed learning a new world which is Casters. Its not your normal witch and spells, which is great. The connection between Lena and Ethan was well written. One question I still have is what is Ethan? and now that we know that Macon's life was bargain for Ethan, Does that mean Ethan will become a Incubus like Macon? The only reason I didn't give it the 5 stars was I sort of didn't care for the parts that talked about the battles between the South and the North. This was not my strongest subject in school. So I will tell you I am very excited to read the next book in the series Beautiful Darkness. I might have to ask someone to lend me their ARC before the book is published. I'm also very excited to meet Kami when the Smart Chicks Kick it Tour comes to Houston in September. So if your still one of the few who haven't read the book, I hope I have convinced you to go out and purchase it today. The Cover art is perfect for the Story.

Great review. I had no idea it was from a male's perspective.
ReplyDeleteI loved this book, and also loved the Male POV. I enjoyed all the historical aspects, but then again, I love history, especially the Civil War.
