Banned Books Week (BBW) is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read and the importance of the First Amendment. Held during the last week of September, Banned Books Week highlights the benefits of free and open access to information while drawing attention to the harms of censorship by spotlighting actual or attempted bannings of books across the United States.
I decided this would be a great way to support all those Authors who have been banned. I know locally Ellen Hopkins was recently banned from coming to Teen Lit Festival done here in Humble,TX less than 15 mins from my house. Then when this happen I started researching to know what other books that I have read have also been banned and why. Thats when I came across The Twilight Saga, come on are you kidding? Stephenie Meyer is Mormon. The list of books is something to laugh a little about. You have Harry Potter series, Bridge To Terabithia and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn to just name a few.
I honestly think they are getting carried away somewhat and should let the Parents or Guardians choose what their children will read. So if you are interested in joining just click the link above.
