The latest news on books that are being turned into movies.
Author: Nicholas Sparks
Released: September 30th 2008
Publisher: Grand Central Publishing
Summary: A photograph found by chance; a chain of events that lead inexorably to the woman it portrays: The Lucky One traces a path so ephemeral and artful that we would know that Nicholas Sparks had written even if his name did not appear on the title page. This story about a man whose scrape with death leads to his one true love will keep you up at night and then make you sleep more soundly. Inimitable storytelling.
I am a fan of all Nicholas Sparks books and the movies that have been made from his books. Today Nicholas Sparks informed us on Twitter that filming will wrap on Tuesday for The Lucky One. The Lucky One will star Zac Efron. I have the book but still need to read it.
Water For Elephants
Author: Sara Gruen
Published: April 9th 2006
Publisher: Algonquin Books
Summary: "Though he may not speak of them, the memories still dwell inside Jacob Jankowski's ninety-something-year-old mind. Memories of himself as a young man, tossed by fate onto a rickety train that was home to the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth. Memories of a world filled with freaks and clowns, with wonder and pain and anger and passion; a world with its own narrow, irrational rules, its own way of life, and its own way of death. The world of the circus: to Jacob it was both salvation and a living hell." Jacob was there because his luck had run out - orphaned and penniless, he had no direction until he landed on this locomotive "ship of fools." It was the early part of the Great Depression, and everyone in this third-rate circus was lucky to have any job at all. Marlena, the star of the equestrian act, was there because she fell in love with the wrong man, a handsome circus boss with a wide mean streak. And Rosie the elephant was there because she was the great gray hope, the new act that was going to be the salvation of the circus; the only problem was, Rosie didn't have an act - in fact, she couldn't even follow instructions. The bond that grew among this unlikely trio was one of love and trust, and ultimately, it was their only hope for survival.
We finally have a movie trailer, How exciting right? Well here it is.
I heard about the Lucky One movie this past week and I just don't think Zac Efron is right for the role. Of course, I disagreed with Miley Cyrus as Ronnie in The Last Song and I changed my mind once I saw the movie so I have an open mind on it. I haven't read Water For Elephants but such a popular book has to be good, so its on my list.
ReplyDeleteI love that trailer! Squuueeeeee I'm so excited for this movie. The book is one of my favorites.
