I read the book after seeing the movie. i decided I would read it since usually books are better than the movies. I was right, there was more details and just the descriptions were wonderful. I still say how can a woman just drop everything and take this trip, I don't know. In my world that doesn't happen of course. I'm glad though in this novel it does because what a adventure it was. Its a great book about rediscovering yourself and falling in love when you least expect it of course. You learn that you have one life and that life you need to make sure you are living it to the fullest at all times. Do not live in fear of change. The middle part of the book was a bit slow but it was also the very serious part of the journey.
Summary: (from goodreads) In her early thirties, Elizabeth Gilbert had everything a modern American woman was supposed to want--husband, country home, successful career--but instead of feeling happy and fulfilled, she felt consumed by panic and confusion. This wise and rapturous book is the story of how she left behind all these outward marks of success, and of what she found in their place. Following a divorce and a crushing depression, Gilbert set out to examine three different aspects of her nature, set against the backdrop of three different cultures: pleasure in Italy, devotion in India, and on the Indonesian island of Bali, a balance between worldly enjoyment and divine transcendence.
Eat, Pray, Love Movie Review
I've been thinking of reading this one too :D
ReplyDeleteThis book looks intriguing! I really wanted to see the movie while it was in theaters but now I guess I have time to read the book before the movie!
ReplyDeleteI watched the movie the other night and decided I NEED to read the book. It was good. But I also found myself how she was able to drop everything and take off for a year. But I think we all can relate on some level to wanting to do that!
