After a tragedy a girl's infatuation for her brother's rogue friend turns to love, only to change after he makes a comment, due to his own history with tragedy and how he has avoided commitment that breaks her heart.
She turns out to be a writer that uses her writing to vent and get back at him, using her book characters to express her inner feelings. After he reads her book he finds that the story is to close to his actual double life and decides to propose to her, but now she is the one that doesn't want to marry. He has to make her change her mind and by doing so he discovers he has wanted her also
There is romance, humor and mystery throughout the story. I would have liked the mystery to have been enhanced a bit more, but besides this the 3rd book of this series gets better.
Summary: (from Sabrina Jeffries's website) Lady Minerva Sharpe has the perfect plan to thwart her grandmother’s demand that she marry by year’s end: become engaged to a rogue! Surely Gran would rather release her inheritance than see her wed a scoundrel.
