What a start to a book, I think the beginning gave me some nightmares. I was so sad. I think Beth does a great job getting feelings across from the pages to its readers. The pace started slow for me. The one thing I didn't care for were the names of the Ship's Leader and future leader. I know its such a small thing but it really got to me. I did like the fact that the chapters were divided into each character's POV. Towards the middle of the book it starts to pick up speed the book literally. Beth delivers a great blend of Dystopian, Science-Fiction and Murder in her Debut novel.

The Story begins where a family is getting ready to be frozen to be entered into a spaceship that will travel for 300 years and then they will arrive at a new planet and begin a new way of life there. Sounds easy right, HA! Thats were Beth makes it interesting. Amy is the daughter of the family that was frozen and suddenly she is awakened, she thinks she has arrived. She realizes she was woken before her time and the ship hasn't even landed yet. Her parents are still frozen as well. She meets Eldest and Elder, they are the leader and future leader of the Spaceship Godspeed. Amy is in full panic mode and after talking with eldest she has all the right to be. Elder on the other hand treats her kindly and well its possible he feels more than pity for her. I really can't explain  more without giving you the whole book's plot away. The ending is just crazy good and unexpected. Pick this book up, you won't be disappointed.

Summary: A love out of time. A spaceship built of secrets and murder.
Seventeen-year-old Amy joins her parents as frozen cargo aboard the vast spaceship Godspeed and expects to awaken on a new planet, three hundred years in the future. Never could she have known that her frozen slumber would come to an end fifty years too soon and that she would be thrust into the brave new world of a spaceship that lives by its own rules.
Amy quickly realizes that her awakening was no mere computer malfunction. Someone-one of the few thousand inhabitants of the spaceship-tried to kill her. And if Amy doesn't do something soon, her parents will be next.
Now Amy must race to unlock Godspeed's hidden secrets. But out of her list of murder suspects, there's only one who matters: Elder, the future leader of the ship and the love she could never have seen coming.

  1. I finished this last week and it was a great read. The names were okay with me - I understood why. The word "frex" however, just about killed me. Either say it or don't...

  2. Speaking of name turn offs, I missed out on getting this book as a freebie because I read the summary and saw the ship was named Godspeed. I thought this was a Christian Fiction book so I passed. I'm kicking myself now because all the reviews say how great it is!
