This is probably one of the funniest books Ive read in the last couple of months. The characters in Hex Hall are real enjoyable to read. Now the whole book is not all fun and giggles, Rachel creates lots of tension and mystery in the pages as well. There is a great amount of teenage angst but it doesn't over power the book, which is a plus. I think it has some similarities to other great books that have been written but still brings its own unique flavor to the table. The story feels believable but just a tad juvenile at times.

The main character Sophie is sent away to a special reform school for people like her. She is a Witch, a very untrained witch at that. She is sent away because of a love spell gone wrong of course at her regular school. So she arrives at Hecate Hall and meets many other in her situation. You have Witches, Warlocks, Fairies, Shifters and Vampires. This don't start well for Sophie at Hex Hall, she has different situations come up with students at teh school and on top pf that she starts to fall for the one guy she shouldn't. Archer is the guy she should stay away from, but how can she. He sounds perfect. Well I can't be further from the truth. All the secondary character are also fun to read about. This book will completely surprise you with how it ends, you won't see it coming. Thank goodness Demonglass releases tomorrow and I also get to meet Rachel Friday at a book signing. Can you say excited!

Summary: Three years ago, Sophie Mercer discovered that she was a witch. It's gotten her into a few scrapes. Her non-gifted mother has been as supportive as possible, consulting Sophie's estranged father--an elusive European warlock--only when necessary. But when Sophie attracts too much human attention for a prom-night spell gone horribly wrong, it's her dad who decides her punishment: exile to Hex Hall, an isolated reform school for wayward Prodigium, a.k.a. witches, faeries, and shapeshifters.
By the end of her first day among fellow freak-teens, Sophie has quite a scorecard: three powerful enemies who look like supermodels, a futile crush on a gorgeous warlock, a creepy tagalong ghost, and a new roommate who happens to be the most hated person and only vampire student on campus. Worse, Sophie soon learns that a mysterious predator has been attacking students, and her only friend is the number-one suspect.
As a series of blood-curdling mysteries starts to converge, Sophie prepares for the biggest threat of all: an ancient secret society determined to destroy all Prodigium, especially her.

  2. Me too! It was laugh out loud funny at times, which is nice! And although it was a bit juvenile at times, it IS YA Fiction...but I'm 40 and still enjoyed it! Great characters, well written and fun!

  3. I LOVED Hex Hall and Demonglass! This is definitely one of my favorite series right now. I agree with you, though, the story is a little juvenile compared to some other series, but I think it's kind of refreshing. :)
