Whisper of Light is the second book in “The Light Series” and just like the first book, it did not disappoint, although, I liked Seers of Light better.  Jennifer DeLucy again does a fantastic job describing the characters and their surroundings and making the reader feel like they are in the story.  I recommend you read “Seers of Light” first before reading this one because some of the first book’s characters and their story carry on into this book.

Whisper of Light is the story about Nicole and Christian.  If you read Seers of Light you would know who Christian is and understand why he chose to leave Pennsylvania and come to live with Wendell and his Sentiments in California.  I don’t want to say why because I don’t want to spoil the first book, but I will say that Christian was looking for a new beginning.  Nicole’s father, Duncan (which she only refers to him by his first name in the book) is the biggest jerk ever and treats her like crap.  You see, Nicole’s parents are both Sentiments and she just turned 29 and has yet to know is she is one too.  For that reason, her father belittles her, calls her weak and treats her horribly.  Also, Nicole’s mother was injured by an evil Astral while trying to save Nicole and for that reason, Nicole has always felt responsible and guilty for her mother’s illness.  So now because of guilt, she has let herself go and isn’t worried about her own life.  That is until Christian comes around and together they overcome their own issues.

While reading, there were times where I laughed, cried and other times where I wanted to slap Duncan in the head.  I have to admit that when I finished the book, I was sad because I felt like I wanted more.  I kept waiting until the very end, but nothing.  Overall this book was really good and I totally recommend it

Summary: The saying goes that all men are created equal... but Nicole Abbot knows better. Lacking the supernatural gifts of the Sentients she has known all her life, Nicole has lived with her nose pressed to the glass, withering beneath the guilt of her own inadequacies and the disapproving glare of her father. It's easy to believe that the universe has forgotten all about her, but things are not always as they seem. With the arrival of Christian Wright, a handsome but complex Combatant with a troubled history, Nicole is forced to question everything she has ever believed about herself, proving that sometimes, our most flawed perceptions are those reflected in a mirror.

Jennifer DeLucy again plunges us into the world of lingering spirits, dark apparitions, and malicious vampires. But this time she takes us to the California coast where we get to know a new ensemble of gifted souls that are just as vibrant and endearing as the Sentients we came to love in Seers of Light. In Whisper of Light, DeLucy delivers exciting supernatural encounters as well as very human interactions that will both break your heart and make it soar.
