I went in to this movie excited to see what else Catherine Hardwicke could bring to this film. I was a bit disappointed. The film has some similarities to Twilight filming. If I not mistaken, the woods are the same shots that were film in the making of Twilight. I am a fan of Amanda but Red Riding Hood was not her best. I felt there was too much pausing and her lines felt recited to me. I didn't get emotionally attached like I normally do with characters. The two main guys are Shiloh (plays Peter) never connected for me. I'm not sure if he was told to act the way he did, I felt him trying to do the angst Edward from Twilight. If you actually read his bio, Catherine Hardwicke tested him for Edward. Then there is Max (plays Henry) who I felt a little connection with. Once he got protective of Valerie (Amanda) in the movie then I saw his potential. Red riding Hood was suppose to be a dark representation of the legendary tale. While there is some killings, it felt just very juvenile. The scene were the townspeople start to celebrate thinking they killed the wolf, honestly it look just like a scene in True Blood, it looked like the beginning of a orgy. The song was great but I didn't get the dancing. In those times in any other films, the dancing is done differently. When we finaly figure out who's who, it was just a bit weak and I actually predicted. As far as the Red Cape is was awesome and I did like how they did the CGI Werewolf. There were parts of the movie that I actually laughed out loud, and it was not a funny scene. So would I recommend this movie, I will say I would have wanted to wait to see it on DVD.

  2. Yeah, I really have no inclination to seeing this. It was as if someone says --- ooh we need to do another Twilight. Oooh, let's switch it around and do wolves instead of vampires. Wolves in -- vampires out, that is so 00s. Ok, lets make it different so we'll make it a period piece. Great. Done.

  4. Thanks for posting the review. I was debating weather or not to go see it, now I know Iam not missing much and can wait until DVD. I was so afraid it would look too much like Twilight in the scene department. And oyu confirmed that. We dont need the comparisions, next time Catherine Hardwick might want to stray from that form. Thanks Yara

  5. It looks gorgeous but plotwise it doesn't seem like there is a whole lot worth seeing. Maybe DVD?
