Summary: (from goodreads) Vi knows the Rule: Girls don't walk with boys, and they never even thinkabout kissing them. But no one makes Vi want to break the Rules more than Zenn...and since the Thinkers have chosen him as Vi's future match, how much trouble can one kiss cause? The Thinkers may have brainwashed the rest of the population, but Vi is determined to think for herself.
But the Thinkers are unusually persuasive, and they're set on convincing Vi to become one of them...starting by brainwashing Zenn. Vi can't leave Zenn in the Thinkers' hands, but she's wary of joining the rebellion, especially since that means teaming up with Jag. Jag is egotistical, charismatic, and dangerous--everything Zenn's not. Vi can't quite trust Jag and can't quite resist him, but she also can't give up on Zenn.
This is a game of control or be controlled. And Vi has no choice but to play.
Let's begin with the cover. Simple yet I believe its holds such a big message once you read the book. The way I read the cover is such a beautiful creature entrap in this piece of ice. the question is, is the butterfly trying to break out or is it content in staying inside the box.
Where to begin, there is so much I loved about this book. You've heard or you have read where I say Dystopians are bringing their "A" game. The other genre need to start picking up there games or they will be left behind in the dust. Possession had me cemented to the pages and there would be no release on its hold until I finished. You will be hooked, addicted, mesmerized and fascinated are just a few adjectives that Possession will cause. The novel brings to you that complication of a love triangle and well also trying to save yourself from the world that Elana created in these pages.
Possession begin at a slow pace in the beginning when we meet Vi (Violet). The pace then begins to pick up very gradually and its sets a pace that works perfectly with the story. Vi is not one to settle with the way the world has become, we are no longer in control over pretty much anything we do. Now Vi is not your typical girl, she refuses to play by the rules you can say. She stop plugging in (this is how the Thinkers instruct one to follow the rules) and has for some time just been thinking and making her won choices from her free will. So Vi gets caught doing what she shouldn't be doing. They take her off and determine her to be a Baddie. All this for wanting to spend time with her (maybe) boyfriend Zenn. OK so this is where I stop telling you the rest of the story because then I would be spoiling it.
Now as I mentioned before there is a love triangle and what a triangle it is. Zenn is Vi's Goodie Boyfriend (kind of) and Jag is a Baddie Vi meets in her quest to survive and save herself from civilization. Jag begins to help Vi understand her special abilities that will help her protect herself from The Director, and you'll never guess who that is. So if you want to read a book that will contain fear, action, romance, angst, and deception pick Possession up today. Now if you are looking to read a book about fluffy pink elephants then this is not for you. I highly recommend picking this novel up and I can't wait for the second one in the series to be out.
I loved this debut as well!! It blew me away. Great review.
