Into the Past
Today on the Original Sin book blog tour, we bring you a post from Lisa Desrochers called Into the Past. Lisa is the author of the series Personal Demons. The 1st book in the series is called Personal Demons and Original Sin is the sequel. This is one series everyone she be reading.
Guest post on what books your past self would recommend at ages 5, 11, 16 and 20. If there are any books released in the last few years you wish you had at those ages, you can talk about that too.
My family weren’t big readers, so I don’t have a lot of memories of books as a kid. I did read a ton to my kids, though, so I’m going to flip this around and recommend books to my five and eleven year-old selves instead. This is fun, because I get to go back and do it again =)
I would hand my five-year-old self a copy of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl and everything Winnie the Pooh by A.A. Milne.
The one book I remember loving from around the time I was eleven was Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White. My eleven-year-old self would also love The Spiderwick Chronicles by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black, and Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson series.
Once I was sixteen, I’d started reading books I’d found on my own. I read some classics that have stuck with me, including A Separate Peace by John Knowles, and I was already a huge J.R.R. Tolkien fan, but I started reading Steven King around that time, and my sixteen-year-old self would definitely recommend The Stand.
I went through a science fiction kick around twenty, so my twenty-year-old self would have recommended anything by Isaac Azimov.
Now who is ready for the added bonus. You can win a signed galley of Original Sin here thanks to Lisa. Please be patient if you are chosen as the winner, it might be a few weeks before you get your copy. Thanks.

I love the idea of thinking of books that our younger selves would have loved. I've always been a heavy reader, but I'm sure there are current books that I would have loved to read when I was a teenager.
ReplyDeleteGreat post!
hmm, I probably would have wanted some Terry Pratchett and any of the Harry Potter books.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid I was in love with the Hardy Boy books (didn't care for Nancy Drew), and I loved the classics like Heidi, Watership Down and Charlotte's Web.
I've been trying to get all of The Percy jackson books so I can read them all at once. I caved in and watched the movie first and I hope it doesn't spoil anything.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway! I've been needing to see how this story continues...
