Summary: Jael has always felt like a freak. She’s never kissed a boy, she never knew her mom, and her dad’s always been superstrict—but that’s probably because her mom was a demon, which makes Jael half demon and most definitely not a normal sophomore girl. On her sixteenth birthday, a mysterious present unlocks her family’s dangerous history and Jael’s untapped potential. What was merely an embarrassing secret before becomes a terrifying reality. Jael must learn to master her demon side in order to take on a vindictive Duke of Hell while also dealing with a twisted priest, best-friend drama, and a spacey blond skater boy who may have hidden depths.

Author Jon Skovron takes on the dark side of human nature with his signature funny, heartfelt prose.

If the first thing that comes to mind when you read the title is Island of Misfit Toys, this book has nothing in comparison. I don't think Jon wrote this while thinking of toys. What's great about this book is that it has many layers of dark tone to it. This book is a great representation of a well written book. You have equal amount of humor, love and action. Skovron brings a new take with the demons.

First of all I love the name Jael and of course you will love her character too. Jael is what I would call a school Gypsy, she moves every couple of months from school to school. This makes her very isolated from everyone. She lost her mother as a young age and lives with her father. She tries and blends in so no one will notice her. That changes of her 16th birthday. Her father gives her a piece of jewelry that belong to her mother and it evokes a new world for Jael. She finds out she is half demon and half human. Her mother was a full blooded demon. So how will she handle all these new powers she has to come to terms with and still manage to keep her relationship with the cute skater guy? But wait there is more because now The Grand Dukes of Hell also wants her dead. Can you say complicated to the 10th power.

If you don't catch the real life scenarios one faces in the pages of these books then your not reading it. Skovron fits in to his story how to belong and discovering yourself. Simple description for you all is that Misfit is a great book with a great story line. The End.
