Summary: (from goodreads) Claudia Emerson has a good friend who shares the same first name and last name. That friend unfortunately dies in a tragic accident during homecoming dance. Claudia is distraught at the loss of her friend, but is even more disturbed by her dreams, which seem to take her to another place called Crossroads. Unknown to her, Crossroads is like a second heaven, a place between heaven and earth. It is where the souls of humans in comas or near death experiences may wander. Where, Claudia meets Michael, a nephilim, a half angel, half human, whom she often meets in her dreams. It turns out that this isn’t her first visit to Crossroads, which is an enigma for no human can ever travel there until Claudia.
Now the fallen and demons are after her, suspecting she must be special and it is up to Michael and the other nephilims to protect her. Her dream becomes a nightmare as more secrets are revealed, about who she really is, and the true identities of the people she loves most. Can Michael fight his growing feelings for Claudia and protect her as a guardian angel should?
Crossroads is another book I can now add to my list of books that make my heart happy. What a sweet, enduring, loving story. Mary did something here with a tale or story everyone might know. She made it her own. Yes she wrote about Angels, The Fallen and Demons but the way she introduces then, its new and fresh. The beginning of the book is well paced and prepares you for the action pack second half. Yes you read right, its not just all love and fairy tales in Crossroads. Mary also gives us quite a dose of action, mystery and revenge. Mary Ting is a author you need to write down as a author to watch for. If Crossroads was this mesmerizing , I can't even think how great the second in the series will be.
Crossroads is a story that follow Claudia, Claudia has just experience a loss. Her best friend has passed and she is trying to deal. She continues to have these unique dreams, which she meets some great looking guys and always ends on in the same place. One in particular stand out the most, just because he is a little rude and cocky to her. The funny thing about these dreams they keep asking her how she has gotten to the Crossroads? She doesn't understand since its her dream. It turns out that Claudia has been visiting the place between heaven and earth. Remember that guy I mentioned that was just unforgettable, well it turns out his name is Michael and he is a Alkin. Alkins are half angel and half human. Micheal along with a few more Alkins are just at a loss as to how or why can Claudia visit Crossroads being human. Now Claudia will have to worry because by crossing into the crossroads her aura changed and now The Fallen and Demons are on the hunt for her. Claudia will have to rely on the help of the alkin and her Gamma (Grandmother) to figure out how and what to do. I won't give anymore away. Trust me when I say you want to read Crossroads. Have I ever lead you wrong with my reading choices.
This debut novel by Mary Ting needs to be on every one's shelves or ereader. You can read Crossroads at any given time and its just the right time. It will make your heart feel complete but be ready to hold your breath while reading. You might even get a paper cut due to how fast you want to turn the pages. I am looking forward to the next installment especially if you read the teasers Mary has at the end of Crossroads.
P.S. If my review didn't convince you , read Crossroads just for the Micheal factor. He alone will make Crossroads worth reading. He is 100% swoon worthy.
