Today visiting the blog is Author Lisa T. Bergren. Lisa is the author of the River of Time series. the series consist so far of Waterfall (book #1), Cascade (book #2), Torrent (book #3) and the not released Tributary (book#4). If you are not familiar with this series, I strongly suggest you pick it up. You can read my reviews for Waterfall HERE and Cascade HERE.
OUaT: Why or how did you pick The River of Time as the name for the series?
There was an old song by Sam Phillips called "River of Love" that I always liked back in my college days. I just looked it up on YouTube. It's kind of depressing, but I like how she's saying that in the midst of doubt and despair, there's always hope. Here's the link to some old concert footage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0NE-AUen6s Then, somewhere, I heard the phrase "River of Time" and it stuck in my head.
OUaT: How long has the process been since you began writing Waterfall and our now currently writing Tributary?

I wrote all 3 River of Time books (WATERFALL, CASCADE and TORRENT) within one calendar year. I think I'll finish TRIBUTARY before we hit the two year mark.
OUaT: As a writer, I Imagine the number one fear must be what will the readers think of my novels, so what is the second fear?

What if no one buys them?
OUaT: I (Yara) can see these books turned into films, would you enjoying seeing your book become films as well and who would you cast?
OUaT: Where are you from?

Ooo, there's been some great suggestions among bloggers and my River Tribe on Facebook for the male leads--maybe Ben Barnes or Eduardo Verastegui for Marcello. But I've yet to see just the right Gabi...
OUaT: As a reader, I think each book has its own qualities that I fell for, as the author of the books, do you have a favorite from the bunch?
OUaT: Is anything in your book based on real life experiences or purely all imagination?

Mmm, I loved the wonder of WATERFALL--wonder, as in, trying to make sense of being thrown into a medieval world, fighting for your life, trying to save your sister, and falling in love with the totally wrong guy to boot...
I live in a fantasy world, in large part. Only the location and some historical aspects are real. :-)
I was born in Montana and raised in Southern California.
OUaT: As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?
OUaT: As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?
A nurse. An astronaut. Indiana Jones. A teacher. A journalist. One of the Three Musketeers. Now I get to be anything I want to be through my fiction!
OUaT: What do you do to unwind and relax?
OUaT: What do you do to unwind and relax?
Movies. Funny or engaging TV shows (current favorites: Grimm, Modern Family, Last Man Standing, Iron Chef, Amazing Race). Long, yummy dinners with good conversation. Curling up in bed with a good book (currently reading Hand's UNEARTHLY and loving it).
OUaT: Can you tell us about your upcoming book?

I'm working on two concurrently--TRIBUTARY (book 4 in the River of Time Series), which is really a continuation of the story of all the characters readers have come to love already, but with more emphasis on Lia, Luca and Lord Greco. I'm also working on the last edits of GLAMOROUS ILLUSIONS, the first in a New Adult trilogy about a group of young people on the Grand Tour of Europe, and a deeper discovery of themselves. GLAMOROUS releases in June 2012 and I'm still waiting to hear when we'll pub TRIBUTARY.
Thank you Lisa for taking time out in your busy day of writing Tributary (can't wait to read it). All your answers were great. Now thanks to Lisa you have the chance to win a choice of book from the series and a $10 Starbucks card. Excellent! right?

ReplyDeleteI am SO glad to hear that you are going to tell more of Lia and Luca's story!! I was really hoping there would be a fourth book and I'm doing my happy dance right now after reading this! Awesome news! Any time anyone asks me what my favorite book of 2011 was, I mention the whole River of Time series! I read the ebooks but would LOVE to have a print copy! Thanks so much for continuing the story, Lisa :)
ReplyDeleteI am totally in love with this series. Waterfall was an amazing read. Being in medieval Italy was so cool I literally felt like I was there right along with Gabi. Wow can Lisa Bergren write a swoon worthy character. Marcello was wow. Lol I don't know what to say without totally gushing over him so WOW will sum it up. Luca and Lia were also great characters. Luca always had me laughing I totally fell in love with him too. Lia was just as brave as her sister even with everything she went through. Gabi was completely awesome. Very relatable and easy to get along with. Both her and Lia were great in the medieval times. I am currently reading Cascade and it is just as amazing. I can't wait to finish and continue on with Torrent. Truly awesome series.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read this series yet, but It's been on my TBR list. I keep hearing great things about this series! :o)
