Marguerite was uprooted, by surprising events foreseen by a seer, from her bland practical life style. Having been told that she had less than a year to live, she makes a promise to herself to be more adventurous before her time is up. To add to her troubles, her long lost Dad re-appears and selfishly expects her and her two sisters, she just learns existed, to give him a place in society. She makes a decision to meet her sisters before she jumps into the new life of adventure as a kept woman, but this puts her at the wrong place in the wrong time.

Ash, her father's partner, abducts her to deviate the older man's plan and to put an end to the double crossing he feels coming from him, with a crazy idea he tries to implement. He was not counting on the clash of strong personalities and the inevitable attraction. To make things worse they both have a terrible fear to a heartbreak and the secret that she keeps of her soon to be demise makes a terrible void that is difficult for them to ignore.
The story is both sad and lighthearted at times, also gives you a frustrating wish to shake some sense into the characters, in all a very entertaining story.
