Wings of the Wicked an Angelfire Novel, was written by Courtney Allison Moulton. As I’ve mentioned previously in other reviews, sometimes, reading books out of sequence, is unavoidable, as was with this one. However, I can truly say after doing a little internet research for the first book and by visiting the author’s website, I was well on my way to a fantasy realm, that held me tight and wouldn’t let go until the very last page.

I must admit, the world of angels and reapers, threw me off a bit in the beginning. I wondered if this would be a book that would leave me questioning concepts while I was reading. As for me a great novel, sticks to my memory and pops in and out even after the end has come. Wings of the Wicked, is still there, even after I’ve closed the book one final time, anxiously awaiting Book three.

The reader is reintroduced quickly to Ellie, an angel, a preliator, “Gabriel” in her non human form. She is perceived as the main character, the one that is destined to save the world and the humans that live in it. Protecting them from the evilness that lurks from beyond the grim constantly, as she tries to live her life, under the radar as Ellie, an everyday high school girl, with every day problems that go along with the title of teenager. But, for me it is Will, Ellie’s earthly guardian, that stills my heart. Keeps me entangled in their every day fight for survival and the human world they protect. Will offers his total commitment and devotion to Ellie, never allowing his thoughts to wonder. He is hers forever. As she is the reason for his existence. She is the reason he is a guardian. A guardian of her life solely. As they fight against evil, it is their softly spoken affection for each other that keeps them together. As they fight for the ones around them, they also fight for the existence of their love. This novel is filled with tragedies sprinkled throughout, but its determination, commitment and perseverance, that keeps them fighting until the end.

There are many books that catch my eye, just by the cover, persuading me to pick it up and read it. Honestly, I may not have picked this book up, if passing by it in a book store. The cover of this novel does not, in my opinion, exemplify what the reader is in for. This was a great one. Give this one a chance, for the words within, will not let you go.
