I feel like I have to be “on” all the time. See, I have talents, and not very many people know about them. So I have to be careful about revealing too much to people who don’t know.

Sometimes girls call me mysterious because of this, but really I’m just trying not to screw up. And I can tell when girls like what I’m doing, because I can sort of feel their emotions. It’s a very useful talent when used the right way.

Like I can tell they like it when I let my hair grow out a little bit. Or when I don’t answer their question immediately. Or that I can fly circles around anyone else.

I guess that makes me mysterious. I just hate getting my hair cut, and I don’t have much to say, and flying a hoverboard means I don’t have to do my homework or have Thinkers inside my head.

But I’ll take mysterious. Girls like mysterious.

NOBODY KNOWS I AM: completely uncertain about everything I’m doing. Sure, I may look/sound/act like I know who I am, or what the next step is, but I’m really making everything up as I go. And that’s scary-hard.

I WISH I COULD STOP: obsessing over what I can’t control.

I'M A SUCKER FOR: girls who can fly.

A GOOD TIME FOR ME IS: racing around the hoverboard track with nothing but the wind.

NOBODY WOULD BELIEVE ME IF THEY SAW ME: swimming in the ocean. See, that’s totally against the rules, and well, I usually follow all of those.

I'D REALLY RATHER: not be able to feel what everyone else feels all the time. It’s not as great as you think to be an empathy.

THE FIRST THING I DO IN THE MORNING IS: try to remember where I am, and what I did last night.

The books are available on Amazon: Possession • Surrender • Regret
Sign me up for flying lesson, how about you? Elana wanted to celebrate Gunner stopping by today by offering a signed copy of Possession & Surrender to a lucky reader.
