Summary: (from goodreads) Virginity.

Bliss Edwards is about to graduate from college and still has hers. Sick of being the only virgin among her friends, she decides the best way to deal with the problem is to lose it as quickly and simply as possible-- a one-night stand. But her plan turns out to be anything but simple when she freaks out and leaves a gorgeous guy alone and naked in her bed with an excuse that no one with half-a-brain would ever believe. And as if if that weren't embarrassing enough, when she arrives for her first class of her last college semester, she recognizes her new theatre professor. She'd left him naked in her bed about 8 hours earlier.

This novel offers a nice little change of pace to the various titles that I've read recently. Losing It by Cora Carmack is a novel I feel, written for the older young adult in mind. The in-betweens. The ones that aren't fully in the world of total adulthood yet. The main character is Bliss and she is attending her last year of college with a major in theater. She believes that life is good. Can't a thing go wrong. The only thing that she is ready to change is her "status."
However, she knows that she hasn't found the right person yet. The one that she feels is the one.

Her best friend is determined to help her along, by dressing her up and going to the local hangout, urging Bliss to find the one, even if it is a one night stand. Hidden in the corner of the bar is a guy named Garrick, one that Bliss immediately becomes attracted to. They hit off and decide to take an adventurous ride on Garrick's motorcycle. Just when Bliss thinks this will be the moment in time that changes everything, her inner self says otherwise and she leaves Garrick, thinking that this guy will never see her again. Little does she know that Garrick, is more than just the young man in the corner of the bar. Their connection hasn't ended as Bliss hoped. Little does she know that it has just begun.

I wouldn't say that Losing It is packed with a distinct writing style that stands out like anything I've ever read before. However, the storyline is original. There is a clear beginning, middle and end. No details or questions were left unanswered. I read this book and couldn't stop until the last page. That detail in itself says a lot for me as a reader. 4 1/2 stars for keeping me entertained until the very end. 4 1/2 stars for creating characters that are truly realistic and described in a manner that offers the reader a truly visual of how her characters look and sound. I would definitely keep Cora Carmack on my list of authors to look out for.

  1. Sounds very interesting if a little mysterious since I don't know much about the book.

I love when authors can really bring characters to life though so I might have to check this one out.

    Thanks for the great review!
