Summary: Ryan Stone is a less than average teenager. He doesn’t have fancy clothes. He doesn’t carry around the latest smartphone and he definitely doesn’t have an MP3 player. Instead, he goes to school, does his chores and dreams of a new life away from Brookfield where he’s expected to follow in his blue collar family’s footsteps.

Hadley Carter is America’s Pop Princess. A successful recording artist living her dream with a sold-out tour and a handful of Grammy’s there isn’t much that she wants for, except love. But finding love on the road is near impossible when all she longs for are romantic dinners, a nighttime stroll on the beach and holding hands with someone who isn’t going to exploit her.

When a chance encounter introduces Ryan to Hadley, will he be like her adoring fans looking for a way in, or will it be Hadley who pursues Ryan even though it might cost her the only career she's known.

Lost in You is a story about following your dreams, taking risks and getting lost in love.

Lost in You was that book that catches you off guard once you are immersed in its pages. Why is that you might wonder, its because Heidi McLaughlin went outside the box with this novel. I'm sure you can name tons of books that main male protagonist is a rockstar or that the guys falls in love with the naive girl. That's were Heidi took something that might be burnt out and turn the tables and gave it a fresh appeal in her book. In Lost in You she made the main female character the famous singer that's on tour traveling the country. Then the male character she gave him that naive, sheltered life that makes him very codependent. So I was immediately hooked after a couple pages in. I could not put the book down even when it was 4am on a weekday, what stop my reading progress was that my iPad run out of charge. I was left with about 25 pages to go when it completely died out. So believe me as soon as I got that morning, I plugged it in and finished what I had left to read of the book. Its simple, Lost in You sucks you in completely.

Heidi gave Ryan and Hadley their own voices as she divided chapters between them in their POVs. This was a BIG plus for me. I liked that we could get inside Hadley and Ryan's heads and understand them and feel what they were dealing with internally. Its a heck of a emotional roller coaster Heidi puts those two through. Sometimes when I read books that get so heavy with emotions and feelings, I wonder how that author did it so she/he could express and describe in words with such clarity those feelings. However they do it, Heidi sure knew how to and Lost in You shows it.

Lost in You is a story about coming to terms with you are and how to become who you should be. Ryan is starting his senior year of High School which he is looking forward to, this means less time at home to deal with his dad. He is a 17 year old kid that doesn't live on the right side of town where the money is, when your folks don't have money that's where you get stuck. He might be able to deal with just being broke but add to that having strict parents who want to govern every single step he takes. He feels like a prisoner in his own home. I would too if I was only allowed to take 5 minute showers. Lucky for Ryan he has one friend that has been there for him for a long time. Dylan is a ray of sunshine in Ryan's dark bleak world. So being the good friend Dylan is, she is always taking care of Ryan. So when Dylan wins tickets to see one of her favorite singers at her concert, she immediately tells Ryan he has to go with her on the 2 hour drive. Ryan will do anything for Dylan even if he has no clue who is singing or what the music is about. See Ryan doesn't have the luxury of listening to music like Dylan does. What Ryan doesn't know is that his life will be forever be affected by attending a simple concert.

Hadley is the hot ticket to have right now, everyone loves her and her music. Best part is that Hadley loves what she does. Of course if her annoying manager/uncle would understand why she adores her fans so much and stop being a a-hole to her, she would enjoy what she does even more. Luckily she also has an amazing friend that carries her along when she is down. Hadley and Alex are great girlfriends. Alex has been by Hadley's side always. So when Hadley takes notice of Ryan, Alex helps them meet per Hadley request. Hadley doesn't know what it is, but something abut Ryan just calls out to her. She questions if it could be love at first sight. Doesn't that all sound just so romantic. Of course there is a catch and a pretty big one at that. See Hadley is 22 and Ryan is 17, meaning he is a minor. This takes Hadley off guard and she doesn't know what to do but she is certain she must see him again. How will Hadley make something that was doomed from the beginning work? I won't tell you how or even if she does. That would be giving so much away.

Their paths crossed be it by fate or chance but now its too late to deny that they did cross. Question is how will they figure out if they can even make this work without the worse case scenario happening to either party. Will Hadley risk the career she work so hard and sacrificed for everyday for a hunch on a boy? Will Ryan defy his parents and grow some you know whats and grow up so that he can see Hadley and what could become of them? Sacrifices and risks will be taken, this is when love is tested and determines was it just lust or being infatuated with the taboo.

Strap on a good seat belt because once you begin Lost in You, you will be thrown around on one of the bumpiest roads a book has taken. Is there a HEA at the end? Yes of course, but I'll leave you with this. Who will have that Happy Ever After? It can't possibly be a 17 year old boy and a 22 year old singer that has lived life already and is beyond her years. Do I even have to recommend this book? I think my review speaks loudly and its says YES!

Heidi McLaughlin Bio

My grandma once told me that I can do anything I want, so I am.

Originally from the Pacific Northwest, I now live in picturesque Vermont, with my husband and two daughters. Also renting space in our home is an overhyper Beagle/Jack Russell and two Parakeets.

During the day you'll find me behind a desk talking about Land Use. At night, I'm writing one of the many stories I plan to release or sitting courtside during either daughter's basketball games.

I'm also an active reviewer on The Readiacs - a site I own with my best friend and uber special beta, Yvette.
