Summary: (from goodreads) Why be the sheep, when you can be the wolf?
Seventeen-year-old Ismae escapes from the brutality of an arranged marriage into the sanctuary of the convent of St. Mortain, where the sisters still serve the gods of old. Here she learns that the god of Death Himself has blessed her with dangerous gifts—and a violent destiny. If she chooses to stay at the convent, she will be trained as an assassin and serve as a handmaiden to Death. To claim her new life, she must destroy the lives of others.
Ismae’s most important assignment takes her straight into the high court of Brittany—where she finds herself woefully under prepared—not only for the deadly games of intrigue and treason, but for the impossible choices she must make. For how can she deliver Death’s vengeance upon a target who, against her will, has stolen her heart?

Summary: (from goodreads) Sybella arrives at the convent’s doorstep half mad with grief and despair. Those that serve Death are only too happy to offer her refuge—but at a price. The convent views Sybella, naturally skilled in the arts of both death and seduction, as one of their most dangerous weapons. But those assassin's skills are little comfort when the convent returns her to a life that nearly drove her mad. And while Sybella is a weapon of justice wrought by the god of Death himself, He must give her a reason to live. When she discovers an unexpected ally imprisoned in the dungeons, will a daughter of Death find something other than vengeance to live for?
1. Katniss from The Hunger Games—Really, does this one need to be explained? The girl wouldn’t even need any training. She could hit the ground running.
2. Beka Cooper from Terrier—Street smarts and stubborn attitude to spare, as well as an excellent fighter. She’s a natural.
3. Irene, The Queen of Attolia—Cool under pressure, she would give nothing away. She could make pleasant small talk even as she plotted out the courtier’s death. A perfect fit with the convent.
4. Sabriel—First of all, she is intimately acquainted with the realm of death. And those bells on her bandolier? I’m sure the convent would love to have such powerful tools.
5. and 6. Elisa and Alodia from A Girl of Fire and Thorn—Elisa has a godstone in her navel, so clearly she knows a lot about being marked by one’s god for hard duty. Plus, having led a rebellion and navigated tricky court politics will have made her uniquely qualified. Her sister Alodia, while not having had as much practical experience in the field, is known as a brilliant strategist and tactician, and those are equally important to the convent’s mission.
7. Seraphina—She has the knowledge and comportment and the perfect cover as music mistress to move easily amongst the courtiers and diplomats at court. And I’m certain the convent could find a way to put her most unique heritage to good use.
8. Digger from Star Cursed—Digger is already a most excellent thief, able to slip into most places undetected, a critical skill for one who serves the convent. I’m sure she could easily be recruited to serve with the nuns. Although they might have to keep a close eye on the silver.
9. Harriet the Spy—Because really, any girl with such precocious spying tendencies deserves a place at the convent.
10. Tana from Coldest Girl in Cold Town—The convent would consider any girl who is so utterly fierce in the protection of her friends. The fact that she would dive headlong into enemy territory in pursuit of her goals and stand up to vampires cinches the deal. Plus, she has her own Gavriel! WIN!
Publisher's Bio: Robin LaFevers was raised on fairy tales, Bulfinch’s mythology, and nineteenth-century poetry. It is not surprising that she grew up to be a hopeless romantic. She was lucky enough to find her one true love, and is living happily ever after with him in California. www.robinlafevers.com
