Between the pissed off creatures that want demon-hunter Lily Marks dead and the fallen angel who just…wants her, Lily is about ready to trade in forever for a comfy job in a cubicle farm.

The fact that she and Julian are civil to one another is enough to have her thrown out of the Sanctuary, but she can’t shake her not-so-angelic stalker or how he brings her dangerously close to ecstasy.

Her forbidden relationship with Julian provides the perfect fuel for suspicion when a traitor is discovered to be working within the Sanctuary. Lily quickly finds herself hunted by well, everyone.

Her only hope is to discover the real traitor before she loses everything–and she’ll need Julian’s help. That is, if Julian is really there to help her…and not destroy her.

Yeah, being a Nephilim isn’t everything it’s cracked up to be.

Just when you think what else can JLA come up with because she writes so many books and pops them out like Hamsters having babies. Well she did and it's all about the Nephilim in this go around.

What are Nephilim you might ask if you don't know. Well in this case they are the off springs of Fallen Angels. So at one point in time an Angel decided sleeping with a human was worth Falling and then from that encounter a half mortal - half angel happened. Poor Nephilim though, they never learn who their daddy's are and their poor moms end up taking their lives sooner or later. So these Nephilim end up all orphans. Doesn't sound very glamorous right? its not. These Nephilim are sought after and before they are corrupted or killed, they devote themselves to protect and kill minions and deadheads. The minions are corrupted/turned Nephilim and the Deadheads are humans turned zombie-like. Its the Nephilim mission to protect themselves and the world from the Fallen and everything they corrupt. In simple English its an ugly war and many get hurt.

Your main bad ass Nephilim is Lily. She might look defenseless but don't let that fool you. Lily is one if not thee best hunter out there. She has attitude for her and one more, I guess you need it when its rare for a female Nephilim to exist amongst so many male ones. I kinda connect with Lily, I had moments we were on different planets and then moments when we were one. One more thing about Lily besides her awesome demon-kicking ass skills is the skeleton in the closet she keeps. Lily has this problem it's called Julian (I might not mind having such a problem either). Julian is the last person Angel she should be mingling with and well it's hard to stay away from temptation when its always their at the time of need. A girl Nephilim just can't catch a break.

So let's talk Julian. If Julian was front and center in the book then I was all ears or eyes in this case into the book and him 1 million percent. His character was exciting to read. Besides him being panty-melting hot, I was intrigued to know his story and addiction interest with Lily. He had such a range of emotions, you just couldn't help yourself but be entranced. Guys you know JLA is mastermind when it comes to creating this mouth-watering male protagonist, why would Julian be any different.

Alright enough about the hot Fallen Angel. Unchained does have other minor characters that I'm hoping in future books JLA will explore in more detail. Unchained was a good start to a new series, a bit slow at start but slowly pick up some speed. Fans of JLA will enjoy as usual, might not be a favorite but still will be enjoyed.
