The spine-tingling horror of Stephen King meets an eerie mystery worthy of Sara Shepard's Pretty Little Liars series in Kate Karyus Quinn's haunting debut.
On a cool autumn night, Annaliese Rose Gordon stumbled out of the woods and into a high school party. She was screaming. Drenched in blood. Then she vanished.
A year later, Annaliese is found wandering down a road hundreds of miles away. She doesn't know who she is. She doesn't know how she got there. She only knows one thing: She is not the real Annaliese Rose Gordon.
Now Annaliese is haunted by strange visions and broken memories. Memories of a reckless, desperate wish . . . a bloody razor . . . and the faces of other girls who disappeared. Piece by piece, Annaliese's fractured memories come together to reveal a violent, endless cycle that she will never escape—unless she can unlock the twisted secrets of her past.
Annaliese finds herself in a life altering predicament. Filled with an identity crisis, lost of memory, weird urges and questions left unanswered. There are many people that are in her life now, trying to help, or are they really?
It's this type of review that I find very hard to write. I realize that with many novels their are endless nights of planning, writing, thinking, more planning and more writing. Time spent away from families and it's these factors in mind that push me to continue reading hoping for the best. At first glance Another Little Piece, caught my interest. With the scripted type set and the mysterious girl on the cover. However, I was a confused and lost reader throughout the entire book. This wasn't a book that held me from start to finish. It was one that left me with question after question with each section read.
The novel consist of mini chapters all labeled with their own unique title descriptors which was very helpful. In addition, the novel had it's own anthology of poems sprinkled all throughout the story and presented through the eyes of the main character. The poems were a bit much for my reading taste. Overall, this book wasn't for me, thus the 2.5 rating. However, if you follow my reviews you know that I am just one voice among many and I would love to share this book with one of our OUaT readers who would like to give it another chance.
