If you’re looking for a story about a good, humble girl, who’s been hurt by someone she thought she could trust, only to find out she’s not as vulnerable as she thought she was and discovers an empowering side of herself that falls in love with the guy who helps her find that self, blah, blah, blah...then you’re gonna’ hate my story.
Because mine is not the story you read every time you bend back the cover of the latest trend novel. It’s not the “I can do anything, now that I’ve found you/I’m misunderstood but one day you’ll find me irresistible because of it” tale. Why? Because, if I was being honest with you, I’m a complete witch. There’s nothing redeeming about me. I’m a friend using, drug abusing, sex addict from Los Angeles. I’m every girlfriend’s worst nightmare and every boy’s fantasy.
I’m Sophie Price...And this is the story about how I went from the world’s most envied girl to the girl no one wanted around and why I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.
Don’t judge a book by its cover. Ever hear that expression? Well it’s very appropriate when you read this book title. Seriously, the summary doesn’t even do justice. This book just took me by surprise! I WAS NOT EXPECTING TO CRY! I loved it!
On the first chapter of this book you meet Sophie Price. She is a stunning wealthy spoiled brat that likes to manipulate her friends, the Queen B of the group. She is unhappy; her parents are never there for her and to void her pain she finds herself doing drugs. Caught in the actions she must present herself in front of a judge for the second time. This judge warned her before that if she was ever to present herself in front of him, he will punish her. Her punishment concludes of six months in Uganda helping out an orphanage. This is when her life changes for the best. Upon her arrival she meets gorgeous 20-years old Ian aka Dingane, but her charms cannot fool him. He sees her for who she is, but with time… anyone can change, right?
The story started with your typical teenager drama. I found myself rolling my eyes on the first chapter but I kept going because I liked the way it is written. A couple of more pages and I was HOOKED! This book is a journey that teaches you many lessons. One of these lessons is you should be grateful for what you have. You never know what other people have and don’t have. The fact that these orphans have nothing but are grateful just to be alive… the way this is written in the book, is just too much to take. I cried my eyes out.
This is not your typical love story. Sophie and Ian’s relationship grows into love and respect with time. The lesson behind their love is just admirable. It teaches you to love a person from the inside out. It teaches you that there is always a second chance - a chance to become a better person. It teaches you to risk your life for you to believe. I LOVED IT!
This is a MUST read! It teaches you a life lesson that will have you bawling. I can’t put into words how I feel after reading this book but it sure did surprise me. This is just amazing and I cannot wait to read Greed.
I really need to read this book. I have been looking for a good new adult book that I can enjoy and this sounds pretty good.
