A Saturday Moment with Deitre + Giveaway

So it's Saturday and I'm in a reflecting mood. I'm looking at my book shelf and wondering what is next in line to read. The life of a book blogger is such hard work. I'm grateful that Yara keeps us on top of it, but also encourages the team to jump in at anytime. So this is me, jumping in, and trying it out. I recently finished the book Red Hill by Jamie McGuire. For a full OUaT review see the link below. This was the first book that I have read by Jamie McGuire and I must say that it will not be the last. Ok, sooo, let's just say that I was caught off guard with the subject matter. I was hearing a lot of buzz about Red Hill, but never knew that it was about the undead, or zombies as some call them. I can barely handle The Walking Dead series, but I thought I'll give it a try and paint my own pictures in my mind as I read. Well Ms. McGuire's words painted the pictures for me. There was no holding back. When you read a book and you just can't find the right place to stop, afraid that you might miss something, that's good writing. There are so many characters in the book with their own unique strengths and determination to live that I can't really focus on just one. But I'll tell you, that Red Hill, is the place to be. It's the place that everyone is trying to get to. It's the place that means survival from the undead. So I find it filled with adventure, many scary parts, and lot's of decisions to make just to stay alive. Red Hill get's 4 trees from me.

So back to my bookshelf. I think Control by Lydia Kang is calling my name to read. There are football games playing in my household. Unfortunately, Nascar season is over, with Christmas Music playing, coffee brewing, and my electric blanket going strong, I'm going to dig into Control.

What are you reading today? I have no idea how to do a rafflecopter. We always leave that up to Yara. But I can do it the old fashion way. Let us know in the comment portion what you are reading this weekend and on Monday I'll choose one person to send a surprise book to. If you leave a comment, be sure to check back on Monday evening, as if you are selected you will need to send your email address to OUaT. Well I think the coffee is finished and the blanket is warm.

When you comment please leave your email address so that we can contact you if you win the surprise.

Happy Reading...Deitre

  1. I often stare at my reading piles and wonder what I'm going to read next. I have been staying away from Red Hill because I'm not a big zombie person but maybe I should give it a try for the characters.

I hope to read Soul Resurrected by Keri Lake this weekend.
    Happy Reading!

    1. Oh trust me when I say you WANT to pick Redhill up, the story doesn't focus on the zombies, they are just part of it like a side characters, Redhill has so much more to offer than just Zombies.

  8. I just finished Better by S. Walden. And up next? I think I will start Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. Everyone seems to really enjoy it, so I hope I will too. I sometimes feel overwhelmed with all the books that I'm dying to read. There isn't enough time in the day though. I wish I had one of those jobs where you get paid to read. Can you say Heaven? Thank you for sharing one of your books. My bare bookshelf could use an extra book. Happy Holiday.

    1. Paid to read...I with you on that! I turn to audio books when I have reads I just can't get to. Driving 30 mins to work each way helps the time pass and get in some good listening if the reader is great.

I don't know what kind of mood I'm in... watching hockey and drinking coffee while sitting next to the Christmas tree. Thanks so much for the giveaway!

  15. Great first post Dee! Red Hill sounds interesting. However I am a huge fan of zombie books and after reading your reply comment I'm not sure how much I would enjoy it. Right now I'm trying to finish Throne of Glass. I have to say that I expected this book to be completely different than what it is and I not really enjoying it so much. Next I will be reading Splintered and I am so excited to dive into that book. :)

  27. Choosing my next read is always difficult for me too - I'm never in the mood for the same book day to day. XP Hope you enjoy Control - I've heard really good things about it.

I just started reading Avalon by Mindee Arnett, which I'm super-excited about. Although the writing isn't the best, I'm quite enjoying the story!

    Thanks for the giveaway! :)
