Gather ‘round, love, because I want you. I want what you have, I want what you don’t have, I want more of what I already have. I want. But if you so much as ask for something in return, go ahead and walk away. Know if you want to play in my world, it’s every man for themselves and the weak become mine. Leeches will be obliterated because I make it my job to destroy them. I protect what’s mine and I take what’s yours…because that’s what I do. I want.
My story will not endear me to you and, frankly, I could care less if it does because I’m in this for the money and nothing else. There’s nothing redeeming about me. I’m a corrupt, money hungry, immoral asshole from Los Angeles. I’m every man’s worst nightmare and every girl’s fantasy.
I’m Spencer Blackwell…And this is the story about how I went from the world’s most coveted guy to the guy no one wanted around and why I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.
After reading Vain (if you haven’t read this, then you MUST start NOW) & getting wowed by the author, my expectations for Greed were sky high. Not only did I love Greed, but I was surprised by the outcome of the story. Fisher stories are not only to be read but to learn from – life lessons. And she does an extraordinary job doing this.
In Vain (A MUST READ), we met Spencer – the hot guy that can get everything he wants. His parents are very wealthy, spoiling him and his sister. But his dad is the type of father that pays more attention to money than his kids. As a matter of fact, he pays Spencer to do his dirty work. (Not really a role model). As the saying goes, like father like son. However, Spencer is self-aware of his bad doings and would like to change. But with the type of relationship he has with his father, this is very hard from him to accomplish.
Now with a new and difficult situation, Spencer feels protective of his sister and is willing to run away from his father’s rage. Leaving everything behind, the high life and all that comes with it, he takes refuge at a ranch. With a new surrounding and nothing to own, will Spencer be able to survive? Will he finally be able to become the person he wishes to be?
When it comes to his sister, Spencer is very protective. He is the brother every girl needs. In his new home, he meets Cricket, the girl that will challenge him to become a better person. She is also the girl that will break him and rebuild him without him knowing. I just love their journey together, which is not an easy one. They both must overcome their issues and learn from each other.
As mentioned, this is a life lessons story - Not everything that you plan in life will go your way. Spencer learns this. He also learns that the material things are not important. No matter how long you planned your perfect one, will most likely end up not being the one. People do not get to choose who they will get to love. When you fall, you either do or you don’t. These are unforgettable stories that will forever reside in your heart. One of my favorite lessons is:
“Life on Earth is fleeting. It’s a gift, but when God wants you, He will take you. It’s not meant to be a punishment to you or your loved ones”.
In Greed, Fisher broke my heart in a different way. I loved how this story was not the same as Vain, which I adored, but she was able target the same concept in a different method. She wrote Greed in a different pace but she chose the right time to aim at your heart. Seriously, I am addicted to this series! OBSESSED is not enough to describe my love for this. This is a must read! This can be read as a standalone but VAIN is a must read! Then you will understand how sneaky Fisher is in Greed!
