Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish.
2014 Top Ten bookish or even non-bookish resolutions.
Let see how many of these Ill actually stick to or complete this year. Hopefully all of them since they are important to me.
Here goes my list:
- To fall in love with reading again : Last year was so hectic in so many ways and everything became robotic to me that I decided it will not cut it this year. I will fall in love with reading again and not let myself get caught up on a assembly line of blogging again. It has to fell natural and fun and it will again. I know I have my team supporting me on this one.
- Use my OUaT team : This means I will put my OCD tendencies in a closet and actually let the team do things on their own such as postings and many other bookish blogging things. I even got rid of my paper calendar and created a google calendar online so we can all take part. It really is nice to have finally open up and asked for help.
- Healthier eating habits : Not very bookish but it does involved me and when Im at my desk working on the blog or work stuff, I get all caught up in whatever I'm doing and its easier to just grab a bag of chips as opposed to something healthier.
- Acceptance that its ok if I miss signings and conventions : It ate away at me last year when I had to stop attending signings or events because well money is tight and its just not something I could add to the budget and this year I know that not until we are ok financially I won't use any money we worked hard at earning to spend on bookish stuff or events. This won't make me a horrible blogger and I will learn to accept that. When you can, you can and when you can't, you can't. That's how the cookies crumbles, lol.
- Reviews : I will try my hardest to do what I actually have done with the last 2 reviews I have written and that is to write them as soon as I'm done with the book. If not it will never get written or I'll write it under pressure, so since I want my reviews to be genuine and honest, I will definitely try writing them right after finishing the book, be it at 7pm or 3am.
- Bookshelves : Even though I have read the majority of books on my shelves there are still a few I have not read that have been sitting on its shelves for some time and I want to try and read at least 1 of those books per month until the end of the year.
- Read with my boys : I want to make a big effort this year and read more with my boys, it gets very hard because they participate in so many sports and the running back and forth but I want my boys to fall in love with books and the stories inside them.
- Spanish reviews : I have been pondering this for sometime and I think I would love to start incorporating some Spanish reviews on the site. I know we have many international readers that follow us and I think they would appreciate it. So if you read in Spanish and would love to post reviews here, contact me, lol! (I'm serious)
- Saying No : I need to understand and accept that its ok sometimes to say no. There are times when its a necessity and must be said so that one can breathe and not feel like they are drowning. If the person I say no to doesn't understand that well than it wasn't meant to be for us to read or help out with the book or author.
- Read : no explanation needed, just keep on reading and reading and incorporate #1 by loving it again in 2014.
So what are you bookish or non-bookish resolution in 2014???
I'm with you on 3 & 5! If I wait too long to write a review it just gets that much harder to write. Good luck Yara!
ReplyDeleteThese are really great, heartfelt goals! I feel ya on the getting healthier, saving money, and saying no goals. And I think that's awesome that you want to incorporate Spanish reviews! Asking for help is hard but it sounds like you have a great team beside you. You can rock these resolutions, Yara!

I love your list! I'm trying to read for fun more this year. You're lucky to have a team! I do have a steady blog reviewer and it's a big help.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I do read in Spanish and I can do a guest reviews if you're interested ;)
Thanks for stopping by!
I really like your resolutions, they're pretty achievable I'd say. I can also relate to the trouble of saying no, I've taken to closing my requests for the time being because I want to read books I want read, rather than because other people want me to. Fantastic list, and a big thank you to Leydy for linking me here, you have a great blog! :)
ReplyDeleteYara these are great resolutions! Yes, sometimes we need to take a step back and focus on the most important events. We can't attend them all, there's just not enough budget for all the fun there is to be had. I'm glad you want to read more with your kids, I think that is so important. Great post!

Great resolutions, Yara! I agree with many of them. I've also had a problem with reading becoming robotic and hope to indulge myself a little more this year with pleasure reads. I can also relate to saying no. I got swamped this past year with a lot of reads that I no longer have time to tackle. Good luck with your resolutions!
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by my Top Ten Tuesday!

I think writing reviews in Spanish is a very interesting idea! I don't speak or read any Spanish at all, but it's definitely becoming more commonplace and would set your blog apart!
ReplyDeleteGreat list, thanks for the comment on my post! Good luck, you've got some great resolutions here! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a good list. Good luck this year! :) I have a giant notebook where I write down all my random thoughts about a book for review, so when I go to write, I've got everything (sort of) in order. Thanks for sharing! :)
