Soccer star Lainey Mitchell is gearing up to spend an epic summer with her amazing boyfriend, Jason, when he suddenly breaks up with her—no reasons, no warning, and in public no less! Lainey is more than crushed, but with help from her friend Bianca, she resolves to do whatever it takes to get Jason back.
And that’s when the girls stumble across a copy of The Art of War. With just one glance, they're sure they can use the book to lure Jason back into Lainey’s arms. So Lainey channels her inner warlord, recruiting spies to gather intel and persuading her coworker Micah to pose as her new boyfriend to make Jason jealous. After a few "dates", it looks like her plan is going to work! But now her relationship with Micah is starting to feel like more than just a game.
What's a girl to do when what she wants is totally different from what she needs? How do you figure out the person you're meant to be with, if you're still figuring out the person you're meant to be?
I loved loved loved this book from the beginning to the very end.
This book tells you a story about Lainey and she was just dumped by this hot guy that every girl wants in high school. But he doesn't tell her the reason why he dumps her. Well they find this book about The Art of War. They get to read it and she finds clues in there that she could try and win her ex boyfriend back. But she has to find somebody that will pretend to date her to make her ex jealous and want to get back with her.
Well she ends up asking this cute kid that works with her at her fathers coffee place. His name is Micah and he has a mowhawlk with piercings and tattoos. She also finds out his girlfriend broke up with him and would love to win her back. Well during there so called pretend dates they start to get along really well and didn't know they would actually enjoy each others company.
Even though she is a prim and proper girl and he just looks like you wouldn't bring him home to dad. This book was great from the beginning to the end. I didn't want to see if end. I really hope this author makes a sequel to this because I would love to see where their relationship is and how they are doing.
It's a story that you would love to have happen to you when you were in high school. But things like that can't happen because that is life. Those things only happen in story books. My husband always tells me you can't have those kind of fairy tales in real life. They are just in the books.
This book sounds really cute and I love romance stories that can never really happen in real life.
