John Green's The Fault in Our Stars meets Rainbow Rowell's Eleanor & Park in this beautifully written, incredibly honest, and emotionally poignant novel. Cammie McGovern's insightful young adult debut is a heartfelt and heartbreaking story about how we can all feel lost until we find someone who loves us because of our faults, not in spite of them.
Born with cerebral palsy, Amy can't walk without a walker, talk without a voice box, or even fully control her facial expressions. Plagued by obsessive-compulsive disorder, Matthew is consumed with repeated thoughts, neurotic rituals, and crippling fear. Both in desperate need of someone to help them reach out to the world, Amy and Matthew are more alike than either ever realized.
When Amy decides to hire student aides to help her in her senior year at Coral Hills High School, these two teens are thrust into each other's lives. As they begin to spend time with each other, what started as a blossoming friendship eventually grows into something neither expected.
Say What You Will is one of those unique stories everyone should read. Not only is this story emotionally heart-breaking and beautifully written but it stays in your heart after you're finished. An easy outstanding five stars.
Amy and Matthew are not your typical teenage characters. Amy has Cerebral Palsy and Matthew has OCD. How can these two be able to help each other when they cannot help themselves? Amazingly, we learn that when you find your TRUE other half, you become whole. Nothing else will matter in this world. And Say What You Will is the journey of Amy and Matthew and how these two, not so perfect characters, become perfect for each other.
I completely felt in love with Say What You Will and with Amy and Matthew. From the very beginning of the book, these two will hold your heart and take it to a journey in which they will break it and somehow stitch it back together. A journey of joy and hope. A journey of self esteem. A journey in which you will not pity them but learn from them.
According to Goodreads, I've read in total of 83 books to this day. And I can tell you, Say What You Will stands out among these 83 books. It screams "unique", "heart-breaking", "tear jerker", "outstanding characters" and many other qualities any book lover seeks in a story.
I am thankful that Cammie decided to share this brilliant and unforgettable story. I highly recommend Say What You Will to everyone
