Get Even
Don't Get Mad #1
Author: Gretchen McNeil
Reading Level: Young Adult
Genre: Mystery
Released: September 16th 2014
Review Source: Balzer & Bray
The Breakfast Club meets Pretty Little Liars in Gretchen McNeil’s witty and suspenseful novel about four disparate girls who join forces to take revenge on high school bullies and create dangerous enemies for themselves in the process.
Bree, Olivia, Kitty, and Margot have nothing in common—at least that’s what they’d like the students and administrators of their elite private school to think. The girls have different goals, different friends, and different lives, but they share one very big secret: They’re all members of Don’t Get Mad, a secret society that anonymously takes revenge on the school’s bullies, mean girls, and tyrannical teachers.
When their latest target ends up dead with a blood-soaked “DGM” card in his hands, the girls realize that they’re not as anonymous as they thought—and that someone now wants revenge on them. Soon the clues are piling up, the police are closing in . . . and everyone has something to lose.
Calling all my Pretty Liars! Get Even is the book to read! If you know me, then you know I am obsessed with Pretty Little Liars series. Obsessed. Get Even has it all! Great characters, amazing plot, crazy twists, and the mystery will keep you guessing.
Let’s start off by the characters; there are four girls, which mean there are four points of views. Ugh, don’t we all struggle reading different views? Well trust me; you will be glad to have all four. You will get to the inside scoop of all the main ladies. Now these girls are all different but the one thing they have is to fight against bullying. These girls don’t get mad at fellow classmates and teachers, no, they Get Even. They give the bullies a taste of their own medicine, while remaining anonymous. Aren’t these girls amazing? Fighting for those with no voice? Yup, I love them! I wish I were a member of Don’t Get Mad. But when one fights for justice, one always gains enemies… To make the situation worst, their latest target ends up dead and now everyone blames DGM for this murder.
The best thing about Get Even is that we still do not know who this person that is trying to ruin DGM is. You try to put the puzzle together, yet there isn’t enough to go by, so you need MORE. Seriously, this book is a page turner and you will break your head trying to come up with a name. I cannot wait for the next book! I highly recommend this book to all my Pretty Liars fans but anyone looking for a great book should read Get Even.
