Okay, so I can read sad books about people having illness, death and other such awfulness tragedies, that many of you may not be able to read. Not that I enjoy other less fortunate but for some reason I love sad books. I think it’s a reminder that I am lucky in many ways. It makes me appreciate life. To live, laugh and love. But when it comes to animals, God knows I can’t. So imagined when I started Minty/ Reading the part when Minty and her dog drowns.. I flipped out! I was in tears within minutes and I had to put it down and hug my dog for hours.

To lose a loved one is hard. Yet, losing more than one at the same time… Well, I can only imagine the grief this brings. And yes, I do consider dogs humans. In Minty, this is something Jessica goes through. Not only did she lose her loving dog, but her twin. If you’ve read many theories, twin share a special bond. Jessica and Minty had this. They shared birth but most of all they share it all, after all they were also best friends. After Minty’s death, Jessica lost her other half. But Minty is not about Jessica. No, Minty is about Minty trying to help her sister let go of her, but also for her to let go of this life.

Minty was a very interesting read. Filled with sadness and love, Minty does the impossible to make her twin sister know that she is okay. We follow along in her journey in the "other side". We grieve and learn along with Minty. It's crazy to think that someone is watching over you... But, you never know. If you are a believer in this, then I recommend that you read Minty.

Christina Banach is a former head teacher who lives in Scotland, UK, with her husband and their two rescue dogs. She loves walking; delicious food and wine; evenings at the theatre; exploring new places; surfing the Net; listening to music; and anything that makes her laugh. Plus she has a bit of a thing about shoes and handbags. She loves reading, and is especially keen on young adult and children's fiction (all those years buying for school libraries!).
