New York Times bestselling author Monica Murphy begins a sexy new contemporary romance series—perfect for fans of Christina Lauren and Emma Chase—that introduces three sisters born to wealth, raised to succeed, ready to love, destined to make waves.
I’ve moved through life doing what’s expected of me. I’m the middle daughter, the dutiful daughter. The one who braved a vicious attack and survived. The one who devoted herself to her family’s business empire. The one who met an ambitious man and fell in love. We were going to run Fleur Cosmetics together, Zachary and I.
Until he got a promotion and left me in the dust. Maybe it’s for the best, between his disloyalty and his wandering eye. But another man was waiting for me. Wanting me. He too has an overwhelming thirst for success, just like Zachary—perhaps even more so. He’s also ruthless. And mysterious. I know nothing about Ryder McKay beyond that he makes me feel things I’ve never felt before.
One stolen moment, a kiss, a touch . . . and I’m hooked. Ryder’s like a powerful drug, and I’m an addict who doesn’t want to be cured. He tells me his intentions aren’t pure, and I believe him. For once, I don’t care. I’m willing to risk everything just to be with him. Including my heart. My soul.
My everything.
Man, this was my first read by Monica Murphy and it definitely
won’t be my last, this girl knows steam. Owning Violet, the first in the Fowler
Sister series, following Violet, the middle child, the one that runs under the
radar, follows the rules, and lets people walk all over her, especially her
boyfriend Zachary. On the night Violet believes Zachary is going to propose he
drops a bomb that he’s taking a temporary position in London. On the night that
her world turns upside down Violet runs into Ryder, who does his best to weasel
his way into her life, unfortunately with the dual point of views we know he’s
got a conniving plan in the works with his boss/sometimes lover/only friend
Pilar.
There’s one thing for sure, this book contains some steamy
scenes, it nearly burnt my fingers. Ryder was such an ass majority of this
book, but when he dropped down his walls, opened up a bit, I started falling
for him too. I can’t help but love a bad boy, especially one with tattoos and
piercings. Violet is first painted as this less than stunning, pushover, easy
to break kind of girl, but the day she met Ryder her back bone grew and she
became one tough chick. I actually believe she was stronger than she let on from
the beginning, but when she let Zachary cheat on her and believed he would be
faithful to her once they were married I thought she was delusional.
I really enjoyed Owning Violet, I loved watching Violet
bloom, Ryder slowly change, and their sexy relationship evolve. For me though
the ending felt a little rushed, and things were brushed over that I wished we
could have focused on a little more, but hopefully we’ll get more answers in
Stealing Rose or Taming Lily. If you’re any kind of New Adult fan, who loves
some steamy relationships, with the sexy jerk bad boy, I’d recommend you pick
this one up. I can’t wait to read more from Monica Murphy!
