Due to her parents' promise at her birth, Lady Rosemarie has been prepared to become a nun on the day she turns eighteen. Then, a month before her birthday, a friend of her father's enters the kingdom and proclaims her parents' will left a second choice. If Rosemarie can marry before the eve of her eighteenth year, she will be exempt from the ancient vow.
Before long, Rosemarie is presented with the three most handsome and brave knights in the land. But when the competition for her heart seemingly results in a knight playing foul, she begins to wonder if the cloister is the best place after all. If only one of the knights the one who appears the most guilty had not already captured her heart.
Lady Rosemarie has accepted her destiny to become a nun once she turns eighteen, a vow her parents made. But, a month before her birthday, her godfather shows up with his three best knights and tells her there's a loophole. If she falls in love and becomes married the night before her eighteenth birthday hits, she could be free from the vow. Rosemarie is turned- should she continue with the destiny she's had her head and heart set on to become a nun, or should she at least try to see if there is more to her life?
I'm almost certain I've never picked up a historical fiction novel before and, I am now wondering what is wrong with me. The plot sounded all too good and I couldn't refuse. I was certainly not disappointed! An Uncertain Choice was filled with enough suspense, romance, and need I say feels! Oh, the feels! (Also, a little bit of gore..but, hey this is historical and takes place in lands and kingdoms so I wouldn't expect any less.)
Lady Rosemarie was a kind character. She did leave me feeling frustrated towards her numerous times, though, because she lacked the courage to stand up for herself and have a louder voice! But, where she lacked, one of the handsome knights, made up for. They were each other's yin and yang! Let me also mention that the fact that this is sort of set up as a competition between the three knights to win her heart, it certainly doesn't feel that way. They are as honorable as you'd imagine a knight to be, which I loved that Jody Hedlund stayed true to that!
I loved An Uncertain Choice. I couldn't put the book down anxious to know what the outcome would be! My only complaint is that I'd wish there were more but the ending is perfect nonetheless!
