Book Review: Tessa Ever After by Brighton Walsh

Tessa Ever After
Caged in Winter #2
Author: Brighton Walsh
Reading Level: New Adult
Genre: Romance
Released: May 5th 2015
Review Source: Berkley

In this grippingly emotional New Adult novel from the author of Caged in Winter, what you want isn’t always what you need…

Jason’s been living (and loving) the rich playboy lifestyle for five years, but now his parents are pressuring him to get involved in the family business. The last thing he wants is another obligation, but when his best friend moves out of state and asks Jason to look after his sister, he can’t just say no.

Tessa had to grow up way too soon. After dealing with the aftermath of her parents’ deaths, then becoming a teenage mom, she knows the meaning of responsibility. Which is why, at twenty-two, she’s looking for so much more than a party boy. She’s looking for someone who can stand by her and her daughter…forever.

A relationship between them is doomed from the start, but who says they can’t have a little fun? But as Jason gets closer to Tessa—and her daughter—fun starts to turn into something else… Something Jason’s not sure he’s ready for.

Brighton Walsh is officially on my auto buy list. First we had Caged in Winter, and I fell head over heels for Cade, and then Captive with the sexy Ghost (not literally a ghost) and then she shoots me straight in the heart with cupid’s arrow and gives us Jason. And hand on the bible, Jason is everything, and this book is my favorite of Brighton’s so far.

Tessa Ever After picks up around six months after Caged in Winter, after Cade moved to Chicago. So Tessa is getting in the swing of things without having her brother’s help, and things aren’t as easy as she had hoped, especially with having a four year old daughter. Slowly but surely Jason helps more and more, and he falls more and more in love with her, he may not know it to be love yet, but boy he is screwed.

This was a book where I just wanted to hug it right after, it was so amazing! I loved how strong Tessa was, she may have needed help at times, but she was a single mom, doing everything on her own, she grew up fast and you could tell with the words on the page. Jason was one softie on the inside, he may have been a playboy in the past, but as soon as Tessa invades his mind everything goes off balance. The one thing that was a bit in the way for their relationship to evolve was that Jason is best friends with Cade, you know, Tessa’s older brother. The man who has been there when the last bad boy screwed her over, so winning his blessing will be one true challenge.

Tessa Ever After was such a beautiful, real, and touching story. Brighton Walsh knows how to do New Adult, and she knows how to do it well. Please go pick up this series, you won’t regret it, I promise.
