A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...
Star Wars fans rejoice! The day we've been waiting for is finally here! Star Wars: The Force Awakens is upon us - and I for one could not be any more happy!
Going into this film everyone has their own fears. Are these going to be like the prequels that let some of us down? Are we going to enjoy this story just as much as the original three that started off this amazing galaxy? Is Kylo Ren going to live up to Darth Vader?!
Let me answer for you....No....Yes...and ABSOLUTELY YES!
I went into this completely blind. That's right. Had not seen a SINGLE thing about this movie. Sure I had seen merch but apart from that I kept myself in the dark. Didn't watch any trailers, or TV spots, NOTHING. You might think that's difficult...it actually wasn't all that difficult to do. 2 years of waiting for this glorious film and I was able to keep myself in the dark.
I was thrilled though - I cried when the Star Wars title started rolling...the feeling in my theater was one of pure joy. We all cheered when certain things happened that paid homage to the original trilogy, we all laughed at the witty one-liners that Finn has - or of course when one of the droids is being sassy, we all gasped at every twist and turn that was brought upon us.
Everyone was worried about J.J. Abrams directing this film. Now I'm just worried that he's not directing the next 2. He did such an amazing job with this film - there were so many camera techniques that I was completely in love with. Some of the pans he use as transitions from one scene to the next were so beautifully done I would silently cheer just for the camera movement. He brought to life a story so many of us have been waiting for so long to see, and he did it with such care that I'm scared to see what the next director brings to the story. Abrams is clearly a Star Wars fan - I feel like this is the case with how careful he was about making sure nothing got leaked before he wanted fans to see it, how he's taken characters that we all know and love and introduced us to new characters that we feel like we know and love after seeing The Force Awakens. I could go on, and on about Abrams and my love for what he did with this story. But I think I should touch base on Kylo Ren.
This will be brief. I also am not sure if any of you were like me in the fear that will this new Sith Lord be as awesome as Darth Vader. YES. I immediately took to twitter saying "I still love you Darth Vader buuuttt Kylo Ren is my new Sith husband" because basically he's the best. Adam Driver - seriously...I've seen him in comedies so I was skeptical. But oh man...he did such an amazing job as this conflicted villain whose only goal is to become more evil. Seriously CANNOT wait to see where his character goes.
Rey. Rey is the heroine of this story. And let's touch base on this fact. We have a female lead character in the Star Wars franchise! I'm immensely jealous that I am not her, but I have to say I was a little more than thrilled to find out that she was basically going to be our new Luke Skywalker, per-say.
Again. Star Wars fans rejoice. For today we are blessed with technology that makes us feel as if we are living in the galaxy far, far away - and we have an amazing story that every Star Wars fan will be proud of.

I loved this movie! Abrams did so freaking good, I'm like you, afraid he won't direct the next two. It was like going back home, had the original trilogy feel. Made me so happy. Now I just have to wait for my friend to see it so I can talk to her about it.

I watched The Force Awakens this morning and it was amazing! I thought it fit in well with Episodes 4-6 and it wasn't disappointing at all.
