A group of college baseball players navigate their way through the freedoms and responsibilities of unsupervised adulthood.

I have to admit that when I went in to see this movie, I had no idea what to expect. Yes, I had seen the trailer, but still. Also, (please don’t murder me) I had never seen a Richard Linklater movie before. But, when I walked out, I did so with a smile on my face and with the need to go hang out with my friends.

This movie literally is about a group of guys who are all in the baseball team at a Texas University (they don’t really say which one, nor which city), and the things they do and go through in a spam of a weekend. It starts of with Jake (Blake Jenner) arriving to a house he is to share with his teammates right by the university. We get introduced to the characters as he is and then the boy adventures start.

What I Liked About the Movie: I liked that you see how friendships develop; they all start off as strangers at the beginning, but the camaraderie and love for the team (and the sport) is what bonds them together. Yes, you see some differences between some of them, but it’s mostly good vibes. You get to see some of these freshmen incorporating themselves into college life and their new town. My favorite thing about the movie is the incredible bond that friendship creates between the characters because not everyone gets to experience friends that are truly like a family. Maybe I am biased since I have a group of friends like that, and we call each other family. I also really liked the romance that sparks between Jake and Beverly (Zoey Deutch); it’s cute and, in my opinion, realistic the way the interact and how things flow between them. But, in actuality, my most favorite part of the movie was getting to see so many hotties together on screen! ;P

What I Didn’t Like About the Movie: As much fun as the movie is and as much as I liked seeing friendships start, the movie starts and ends with no point. The whole point of the movie is just to see what these guys did in a whole weekend, nothing more. Maybe I’m being ignorant or mainstream, and not being artsy enough (my sister, who went with me, is more artsy and tells me that not all movies have to have a point lol), but I like a movie that leaves you with closure, with the idea that you know how the story ended. That’s my only con point because I really have nothing else to say about neither the costumes or the acting, or anything else, because all of that was superb.

Would I recommend this movie to someone? Yes, I would because, as I mentioned before, I like the feel-good of it, and how you feel like you’re part of the crew too. It’s a fun, entertaining movie. Just not going to blow your mind nor is it what we are so used to now: explosions with a side of witty jokes. But, then again, that’s not all in life, people. Go enjoy the movie –and all the hotties in it!
