Based on the New York Times bestseller, WONDER tells the incredibly inspiring and heartwarming story of August Pullman. Born with facial differences that, up until now, have prevented him from going to a mainstream school, Auggie becomes the most unlikely of heroes when he enters the local fifth grade. As his family, his new classmates, and the larger community all struggle to discover their compassion and acceptance, Auggie's extraordinary journey will unite them all and prove you can't blend in when you were born to stand out.

Last week was the start of Wonder Book Club. However, I did not owned the book yet and couldn't start. However, thanks to Lionsgate, I received Wonder and began reading.

Each week, we will be sharing our recap on the pages assigned. So last week, I was supposed to read from page 1-9 and this week pages 10-23. Such an easy read. To be honest, I really want to speed up the process and just read the book. It's short, I'm sure I can read it within couple of hours but I'm liking this weekly book club.

Right off the bat, we are introduced to August. We learn that he is not an ordinary ten-year-old kid. He tells us he is used to people running away from him and being stared. He tells us his birth story, which is kind of funny but very sad. Having your own doctor faint at the sight of your face must not be a nice experience. We learn about his family and his very limited friend list. Although, he seems like a sweet boy, people shy away from getting to know him. See, he was born with a deformation, which caused him to have many surgeries, leaving his face with many scars. In the worse possible way.

Then, we learn that August's parent want to him to start school. That is for the first time ever. Since, he's been thru a lot of surgeries, he had never been strong enough to be out in the world. His mother wants him to start properly learning and meet new people. August let's us know he is not too thrilled about the plan but after some comical comments about his new principal's name, he decides to go for it. Now, he goes to a school tour and none the less, is introduced to couple of his classmates.

This is why I would like to keep reading the book. I am curious to know if they will treat him nicely or not. I'm sure they wouldn't but I hope they do. So until next week, I will know!

If you haven't read the book, then I suggest for you to read it. If you already read the book, how about you re-read it. It's fun! Aside, every week, Lionsgate will be sharing a video of a member of the cast and they will ask a question. All you need to answer or participate by commenting on the video post and you may have the chance to win a giveaway! So go on, go enter:
