Stone Reeves was my neighbor, and I’ve hated him since sixth grade.

It doesn’t matter that disaster has struck my life again. It doesn’t matter that he’s the one trying to console me. It doesn’t matter that he’s the nation’s newest football obsession.

Because for me, he always has been and always will be my enemy.

Enemies tells the story of Dusty and Stone, two people who grew up as friends but years later find themselves on opposite sides of the friendship chart. It takes a tragic event for Dusty to become a part of Stone’s life again. They are worlds apart. Stone is a famous wide receiver and he lives a very different lifestyle to Dusty, a college student who barely manages to pay rent.

Honestly, I downloaded Enemies when I was frustrated. Every book I tried to read before picking up Enemies just wasn’t doing it for me. Nothing puts me off a book like insta-love, robotic communication and a plot that just doesn’t flow. I’ve known of Tijan, the author, for years, back when she was a Wattpad author. Enemies-to-friends is book type I’ve not intentionally sought out before but wow, it is something that I really, really enjoyed. This book was fab and did not disappoint!


Enemies is full of drama (maybe a little too much drama), tragedy and a blossoming romance between two people who are learning to love each other after years of disdain. I wouldn't say they hated each other, there's nothing to indicate that Stone had any bad feelings towards Dusty, although Dusty was bitter from past events. Sometimes, it was hard to read. We get the full experience of Dusty’s grief and her learning to deal with the life events that tore her word apart. It was sad but such a great read that I thoroughly enjoyed.
